Mardi Gras is a great time in New Orleans, parades by the million. It starts after the 12 days of Christmas. Then there is King Cake. All kinds of King Cake. It is an enormous part of the culture of New Orleans. People work all year for Mardi Gras. They make costumes. paint and create floats. buy beads, so many beads. There are beads hanging off the live oak trees. There are more beads than leaves.
The photos are from the Barkus parade, held in the French Quarter to benifit homeless animals. the dogs dress up and parade through the French Quarter
The Historical French Quarter is the 7th most popular destination in the world. Hence it is a place where tourists visit. The Moonwalk is along the Mississippi River, a great place for portraits. The French Quarter is a magnificent back ground for portraits.
There are parades all over New Orleans for weeks before Mardi Gras. It gets more intense 2 weeks before Mardi Gras, then there are parades every night, on the weekends they are day and night, forget it if you live on a parade route. You are housed in. Participate, a great time to take in the parades and some New Orleans culture.
